Video of My Business of Software 2010 Talk

Hi friends, sorry for not blogging more, I'm having way too much fun working on Mockups, myBalsamiq and running our little company right now.

Today I want to share the video recording of my Business of Software talk from last November.

Speaking at BoS had been one of my goals in life since before I became an entrepreneur, so I can't tell you how proud SCARED I was of being on that stage, together with many of my heroes.

In order to properly prepare for the Boston event I went and gave similar talks in Prague, Cambridge, Florence, Bologna, Milan and Atlanta last year, each time learning more about what makes for a great talk and how to deliver it. It was a lot of work, but I'm very happy to have done it.

The Business of Software 2011 organizers have asked me to participate in a live one-hour online Questions and Answers session about my talk. The Q&A is scheduled for March 23rd, at 10.00 PST, 13.00 EST, 18.00 CET.

If you have an hour, watch the video below and make notes of any questions that come up: I'd love to answer them live, or post them here as comments if you can't make the online event.

I'd love to hear your feedback about the talk as well, it was one of the hardest things I've ever done. 🙂

Hope to see you at this link on March 23rd!

  2. Been waiting weeks to sit down and watch this, since becoming a Balsamiq convert and fan. Soooo pleased I finally found the time and sat down and watched it, it’s great Peldi. Thank you so much for sharing this with me…and the world! Simon xx

  3. Ciao Peldi,

    What an aswesome talk,
keep up the good & fine work from yours.

    Best Regards,
    Tarek

  4. Hi Peldi, very enjoy and useful presentation. I watched it twice and will do more… You’ve mention several books to read. Do you mind to share list here?

    Cheers,

  5. Thanks for the great advice! Nice overview of things to consider/think about before taking the leap.

  6. Hey Peldi,

I totally enjoyed your talk. I liked it so much that I even applauded with the audience 🙂

I am currently starting up a small company as well, so many points from your talk were relevant.

Thanks again, live long and prosper 🙂

  7. I am extremely happy that i have come across your video talk.
Thank you for being very inspirational & real. I am an Italian (Neapolitan)who moved to ‘Australia’ many many years ago and have always been working extremely hard in my business and also innovation.I have nothing to do with the computer world, but i have passionately been developing an online “creation” (actually Business System) of mine that i truly believe in 110%.
I was freaked out because i have been doing exactly what you have talked about, (step by step)to keep driving towards my goal.

Thank you for reassuring my ‘life & beliefs’. I am totally inspired that the world is filled with people like you!!!!!

  8. Great talk…
    — can you provide a download link or allow it to be viewed on iPad?

  9. you totally nailed it, congrats!

  10. Peldi, I have to tell you, you absolutely killed your goal of “speaking at the BoS conference”. Great talk, I both found it inspiring, full of good advice and entertaining (and this one’s rare!).

I’m a big fan of your work, and although not a Mockups customer (i prefer the plain old pen and paper), but I do appreciate the hard work put into the product, love the design of it and read your blog(s) regularly.

Good luck with everything, and hope to watch more from you in next year’s conference!

  11. Peldi, thanks for sharing! It was a great talk. I’m sad I couldn’t attend the conference, but at least they are sharing some of the best talks online 🙂

I’m curious why you decided to not take any outside investment, especially now that you got traction and could raise some serious money. Also, any additional thoughts on finding really good Flex developers (I noticed your app is Flex)?

    Thanks!

[Peldi: Hi Daniel, maybe I should write a blog post about why we don’t want outside money, but in short the answer is: we don’t need it. There’s a little more info on this here: http://balsamiq.com/products/mockups/manifesto#service. As for finding good flex developers, it’s really hard! I don’t know any at the moment, good luck with the hunt! :)]

  12. I really love the way US Americans hold presentations.
Disregard the information they want to share it’s mostly fun to watch and listen to.
That’s the way it should be here in Germany as well 🙂
    Thanks for the share!
